Major finding: The risk ratio for probable or confirmed infection was 0.58 for those receiving prophylactic postdelivery amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (95% CI, 0.49-0.69, P less than .001).
Study details: Multisite, randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled trial of 3,427 term deliveries.
Disclosures: The United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health Research sponsored the study. Dr. Knight reported no conflicts of interest.
