Beyond the Journals: Sling Reduces Incontinence After Prolapse Repair

The results of the Outcomes Following Vaginal Prolapse Repair and Midurethral Sling (OPUS) trial to evaluate use of a prophylactic midurethral sling during transvaginal repair to reduce risk of urinary incontinence symptoms at 3 and 12 months after surgery is published in full in the New England Journal of Medicine (N. Engl. J. Med. 366;25:2358-67). We previously reported on the results of OPUS at last year’s annual meeting of the American Urogynecologic Society.
