From the Department of Dermatology, State University of New York, Stony Brook.
Dr. Roman Bronfenbrener discusses the new sunscreen guidelines that will help patients make more educated purchases. He explains how the new guidelines will resolve discrepancies between the dermatologist’s recommendation and the sunscreen label’s claims of efficacy. Dr. Bronfenbrener reviews several of the labeling changes and highlights key information about the new claims that dermatologists can share with their patients. He also emphasizes that sunscreen is only one component of safe sun protection and notes additional sun protection practices that dermatologists can share with their patients.
